NYX haul with swatches

NYX is a totally new brand for me. I have never tried anything from them before, so I was pretty excited to place my first order with them. By the way, if you are like me and never purchased anything directly from their web-site, use the opportunity to get a 20% off your first order if you sign up for their newsletter.

1. Pearl Powders. $3 each
Probably the most exciting part of my purchase. They apply fairly well both dry and wet and are long lasting (with eye primer, of course). When applied with a wet brush, the color pay off is pretty much the same, but they shine more beautifully.
Dry application: LP22 Rust, LP02 Pearl,
LP03 White pearl, LP17 Yellow Gold

Wet application: same colors

The only minor issue I find with them is packaging. It is impossible to use it with a brush from the packaging, thus it is messy. But I solved that issue transferring them into small 5gr pots with sifters.

2. HD High Definition Eyeshadow base ESB04. $7
Another great product. Does exactly what is supposed to do: prolongs wear life of your beautiful eyeshadows. I religiously believe that eye primer is a) a must for every eyeshadow wearers, b) doesn't have to be high-end, because some of the drugstore products work the same if not better than high-end versions.
This primer has a slight pinkish tint to it that blends out to nothing on your eyelid. You need the tiniest possible amount, don't apply it from the wand, put a tiny bit to the back of your hand, let it warm up a little and use your magic fingers to apply.

3. Jumbo Eye Pencil in #604 Milk.$4.50
Shall I even bother describing it? I think everybody heard at least smth about this pencil. I bought it to use as a base for eyeshadow application to get the most of the color. If you have a yummy eyeshadow color that kind of gets lost on your eyelid, help it out - put Jumbo eyeshadow pencil in Milk first and the eyeshadow will thank you, or you thank yourself or whatever. And again make sure you use it sparingly and blend well with your fingers or brush before.

4. Studio Liquid Liner in SLL104 Extreme Purple and SLL107 Extreme Gold. $4.50
I am in love with Extreme Purple. It applies like a dream and looks great. I haven't used Gold on myself yet, only swatched. Both of the colors are quite opaque, but they are not smudge proof, so don't touch your eyes, girl! And for those with sensitive skin: it might burn a little before it dries out.

5. Wonder Pencil in WP02 Medium. $4.50
I got this as a gift. Thank you, NYX. Obviously this is too dark for my porcelain skin, but the product is really great: it is creamy and blendable, so you can totally use it for covering smaller blemishes, outlining your eyebrow or in your waterline.

6. Lipliner in 850 Nectar. $3.50
And again, that was a gift. I am really impressed by the formula and shades variety. It glides on your lips, blends well and lasts pretty long without drying your lips. I might stock up on them for my kit. Both wonder pencil and lipliner are made in Germany.

7. Lipsticks $4-6
I think I pretty much bought one of each type of lipsticks they have

Matte lipstick MLS07 Alabama, Soft matte lip cream SMLC12 Buenos Aires,
Lip Smacking Fun Colors LSS 558 Cocoa, Macaron Lippie MALS11 Coconut,

Butter Lipstick BLS09 Candy Buttons.

My absolute favorite out of this 5 is LSS 558 Cocoa, the most beautiful brown-mauvy shade, very creamy and comfortable for the lips. NYX lipstick formula is amazing. You can really get a little overwhelmed with the color choice, sooooooooooooo many shades.
I was very excited about the matte lip cream since I heard so much about it and I love matte lipsticks, but the formula didn't really work for me, I just don't like how it feels on my lips.
Overall I think NYX is a great affordable brand and I will keep exploring their products.
